Visiting Grandma
Visiting Grandma takes readers on a journey with my relatable grandmother in the country side of Haiti. Spending the summer with my grandmother always led to months of adventures, and business ideas coming to life. My siblings and I also got to experience seeing her community come together to support us, and make us feel at home. This story gives children an idea of how Haitian communities used to work together while also sharing the core memories that we have made together.
Written by a Haitian immigrant and mother of three herself, this story shares the experience of living in Haiti in the 90s. Nearly 30 years later, and the memories with Grandma still live on. This story will encourage my young readers to cherish their relationships with their grandmothers, and the time that they spend together.
